Description : This photograph taken in 1916 shows the club house at the Bute Golf Course at Kingarth.  This clubhouse was opened by the local MP Mr Harry Hope in April 1911 and to mark the occasion he donated a prize cup.  The nine hole course was laid out by David Cuthbert of St Andrews on land leased from the 3rd Marquess of Bute in 1888.  For many years the golfers had to share the course with various livestock but from 2009 the players have had one less hazard to cope with.  Perhaps the most famous visitor was Tom Weiskopf who walked round the course while on a flying visit during his time laying out the Loch Lomond course several years ago.
