Object: Gatehouse
Date: 19th century
Description : These two thatched cottages called The Gatehouse stood on the Plan Road opposite the path down through the wood to Kilchattan Bay. From 1889 one of the cottages was occupied by the Fisher family, their son Willie looked after the golf course at Kingarth and the bowling green beside the Kingarth Hotel before going to work for the Post Office in 1898.
