Object: Food Vessel

Date : Neolithic

Description: Food vessel of fairly hard gritty ware, reddish colour in places, with shiny black slip. Carinated with rim out-turned. Decorated with incised lines over the rim and above the carination. Interior dimeter is 15.5 cm. There are two holes under the rim 2 cm. apart. It was found in the axial chamber of Glenvoidean Cairn.

Origin: Glenvoidean Neolithic Cairn was excavated by Dorothy Marshall and Isabel Taylor in the 1960s. Glenvoidean lies 300m above sea level on Kilmichael farmland at the north end of Bute.
