Object: Marble Peevers

Date: 20th century

Description : A pair of marble peevers. These were used for playing hopscotch and most children used an empty boot polish tin or a flat stone. These two, white marble peevers belonged to Janet and Margaret McCrone who lived at Townhead, close to the memorial sculptor’s yard opposite the cemetery. One of the masons at the yard has carved these personalised peevers for the girls.
Origin: Gifted to the Museum by the tenants of Janette Cottage Townhead
