Unfortunatly Rebbeca Synott, South-Eastern Technical University of Ireland wasn’t able to make last nights talk, but Malcolm gave a great account of the research being carried out. Hair traps were set up all over the island and the squirrel hairs were sampled for their DNA and their mitochondrial DNA proved that they were from two distinct familly groups. The reseach finishes in September and Malcolm promises to present the end results after that date.
Next talk. 3rd February. Lucy Lapwing, naturalist and broadcaster: The big drama of little lives on Bute: Stories of the tiny life under our noses.
